Commandment and Commission

There is a passage in the New Testament that has become the primary mission for Christians, it’s called The Great Commission:

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. – Matthew 28:19-20

Churches have used this end to justify countless means. There is another passage in the Bible, sometimes called The Great Commandment:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. – Matthew 22:37-39

Many churches, mission organizations, and missionaries ignore the great commandment on their way to the great commission.

Without the great commandment (love God, love others) we cannot truly fulfill the great commission. Evaluate your past and future strategies. If they are not equally commandment- and commission-minded, you are not presenting the whole message of Christ.
